It is very important to remember that your resume is a marketing tool. Think of it as a 'brochure'
that quickly and precisely highlights your career accomplishments. When reviewed, your resume should generate immediate interest
and cause a perspective employer to say " I want to talk to this person". A well prepared resume won't get you
the job, but it will help get you the interview. Therefore, before emailing your resume
to us, please do the following:
- Review your resume for accuracy. One day you may be asked to verify its contents.
- Review
your resume to insure that all words are properly spelled and that your resume is grammatically correct.
- Your resume
shouldn't be longer than two pages. Assume that an initial review by a perspective employer will take 20 seconds or less----
not much time to generate interest.
- Your resume should flow in a logical order as follows: 1) Name, address, and phone#
2) Education and Certifications 3) Work experience starting from your present or most recent position. Each position listed
should include dates employed, name of employer including city and state, your title, and a very brief job description with
a few accomplishments. 4) Any current memberships that directly pertain to your area of expertise.
- Never put
salary information on your resume.
- Does your resume look clean and is it easy to read? It's best to have
your resume in outline form instead of paragraph form. Please don't use 'cells'. It's also best not to use
' bold ' print.
